Sponsors of a reactivated "Miss Florida" contest staged a local competition on June 26, 1931 in the Milane Theater (now the Helen Stairs Theatre for the Performing Arts), and Dorothy Haines was the popular first choice and was crowned Miss Seminole County. She was the first Sanford girl to enter a "Miss Florida" event. Miss Haines was given an all-expense-paid trip to Clearwater, Florida where she participated in the Miss Florida contest.
In 1933, petite Juliene Newman became the second Sanford girl to win the local contest and was sent to Clearwater to compete in the Miss Florida contest. Juliene was first, Dorothy Hines was second runner-up and Marlis Torrance was third. Juliene tied for sixth place in the stat finale.
In 2000, the Miss Seminole County Scholarship Pageant franchise was awarded to the Helen Stairs Theatre. Missing the official reopening of the newly renovated Helen Stairs Theatre by one month, the pageant was staged on April2, 2000 at the Marina Hotel. Shannon Kelley was crowned Miss Seminole County and participated in the Miss Florida Pageant placing top ten.
After an eight-decade absence, the pageant officially returned to the Helen Stairs Theatre in 2001. Natalie Weld was crowned. Later that year, Natalie forfeited her crown to accept a summer stock role in Rhode Island. First runner-up, Sasha Marie Platt assumed the crown and represented Seminole County in the Miss Florida Pageant.
Emily Martin won the pageant in 2002. Due to school obligations she could not fulfill her obligations as Miss Seminole County and relinquished the title to the first runner-up Shannon Shelton. Shannon represented Seminole County in the Miss Florida Pageant. In 2003, Allison Kreiger was crowned the new Miss Seminole County. In 2004, Ashley Hux had the honor of being crowned Miss Seminole County and in 2005 Danielle Marino was given the title. In 2006, Miss Seminole County was passed onto Elisa Tumaneng.
